Overview of the Delo® Tractor Restoration Program
All entrants are required to submit a workbook by September 4, 2009, which you can download on this site here. We have provided samples of past participants’ workbooks as a reference guide for you, which you can view here. The official workbook provides details on the entire competition and guides participants along the restoration process, from engine overhaul, transmission work to the external appearance of the tractor.
In 2008 we added another dimension to the application process. We now require each participant to submit a short video to complement the workbook. More information about the video is available on this site here.
Effective in 2009, the Delo Tractor Restoration Competition has been reduced to one competing category. A panel of judges will narrow the initial round of entries to 16 finalists in the competition. There will no longer be separate Chapter and Individual competitions. All participants will compete and be judged together. Judging will be based on the quality of the work performed by each competing entrant.
All selected finalists will be invited to the National Finals Competition, held in conjunction with the National FFA Convention. Finalists will present their projects to a panel of 5 tractor restoration specialists. The judges are very experienced in tractor restoration.
Projects are scored on the quality of the restoration effort, documentation, safety precautions and the oral presentation.
Winners are announced at an awards ceremony which will be held on the last day of the competition.
The 2009 prizes are:
- Grand Champion; $5,000
- Reserve Champion: $3,000
- All Finalists: $250
